I am a sensor engineer and a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Washington, Seattle. I work with the very talented and industrious people at the Sensors, Energy and Automation Laboratory where I develop sensing systems for non destructive testing under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Mamishev. Currently I am developing a sensitive skin for measuring interfacial forces in prosthesis in collaboration with the Veterans Affairs Administration. We recently started working on a cell phone based mobile sensing platform for monitoring dietary intake and energy expenditure about which I am very excited.

I am an entrepreneurial engineer trying to engineer entrepreneurship. I started out wanting to be a software entrepreneur and founded SkiSoft Inc. in 1994 before finding my way to Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Vel-Tech Engineering College, University of Madras. I currently am associated with a few start up organizations, such as Janani Foods, India, and illionix, Seattle, which are trying to commercialize nascent technologies developed in academic research labs.

In my spare time I dable a bit in photography, and you might catch me every once in a while playing poker with the fine people at Seattle Poker Open.

Oh, did I mention that I am currently looking for interesting opportunities in R&D / product development / project management? If you are looking to fill such a position in your organization, or know of one, do feel free to get in touch with me about it.
